We had to go. If we didn't take Hussein out Iran would have no question. Most of the Iran/Iraq war was Iran on the offensive to try to topple Hussein. The reasons Iran demanded regime change in Iraq back in the 80's still existed and now Hussein would be much weaker. IMPORTANT; The only way for the US to get out of Iraq leaving Hussein in power is to allow him to completely rebuild his forces INCLUDING wmd because that is the only thing that really prevented him from losing to Iran in the 80's.
