Timi Yuro excells Piaf. You cannot compare these two singers. Timi had a very powerful voice. U.K singer Elkie Brooks can compare to Timi.

I'm not African American, but I've loved this song for many years and thought she sounded African American, too. What a stirring song! We all originated from Africa anyway, some 200,000 to a million years ago, and from some complex cells a billion years before that.

I'm not African American,but I, too, thought the singer was black. Of course, music was one of the first places where skin color didn't much matter, as long as the singer could move the listener. And Timi moved me.

This song must of been released during the folk area of the early to mid sixties and did not get the proper air play it deserved. I do remember hearing it though as a young child.
