If I were in Alaska, I'd probably want to secede too. What do we in the lower 48 have to offer Alaska? Regulations that prevent their recovering of their own natural resources? Thanks but no thanks. If they were to secede, they could drill their own lands without the Nancy Pelosi's preventing them from doing so. They could get rich off their resources like every other country is doing except America. They could also get out from under America's $10 Trillion debt and keep their own tax dollars.

By the way, yweston1. Barack Obama has spoken at events in Hawaii and has supported the Hawaiian initiative for independence as well. Puerto Rico also wants independence. I see no difference in Alaska being frustrated by American political inaction and environmental red tape and having a desire to secede, and Hawaii and Puerto Rico desiring to do the same. While Governor of Alaska, her job is to do whats best for her state. In all honesty, I wish Texas would do the same.

I believe that in the agreement between Texas and the United States when Texas joined the Union, Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston insisted that there be a "Secession Clause". It stated simply that upon the popular vote of the people of the Republic (or State) of Texas, it could secede from the Union at any time with no intervention by the Union. Texas still has a lot of wealth in it's natural resources. It's time for us to keep our resources and and stop feeding the Nation as we've been doing.
