Okkkkk, "doesn't know anything about music..." so everyone that knows anything about music will enjoy his music? Nonsense. Geezaloo. Calm down. I enjoy his music, but when you listen to multiple scores of his they get very repetitive. He has the right to repeat melodies and ideas, but it makes me view him as uncreative. Some composers have their own feel and recognizable style, but his seems too blatant.

he's a soundtrack writer.
soundtracks for a movie generally have the same melodies and stuff.
try listening to his songs from different movies

I meant repeated melodies in different movies. Haha, of course melodies within one soundtrack should be similar.

The man is talented ... ( 1 year ago by godadameve)
The man is talented, no doubt. But I agree that after SO MAAAAANY movies, all of these soundtrack composers began to sound Sooooo repettitive...I mean, good grief, why must EVERYTHING be STRINGS and BRASS!!!??? And I'm talking about the KEYBOARD stuff. Anyone remember 'RUMBLEFISH'? Stewart Copeland a DRUMMER took such a novel approach to that soundtrack: He used PERCUSSION!

I have to disagree. ... ( 1 year ago by teoweiyong)
I have to disagree. Hans has his own tendencies. Just like Danny Elfman, just like Stravinsky, just like John Williams. Listen to Two Deaths, Matchstick Men, As Good As It Gets, Crimson Tide, The Holiday, Gladiator, and Black Hawk Down. Tell me all of that stuff sounds repetitive??? Unless you only watch action movies he has done (which he has defined the sound of the genre 3 times over), you are missing out a SHITLOAD.

I find it funny, that someone can say Hans Zimmer is not creative. He does what he's required to by the Director, within a certain scope. i would say though that to just name drop zimmer as the greatest of all time, is a bit shallow too. There are many other composers who should be mentioned alongside him. and the new crew - John Powell, Harry gregson, williams, john ottman et al forgive me for not naming them all are building niches for themsleves also. Gentleman/ladies lets broaden our minds!!
