A friend of mine played for the Buffalo Sabre's hockey team... they came to town to play the Redwings, so I asked him to hook me up with tix. My date thought my friend didn't like me, because our seats were in the second row (from the top!). I guess the visiting team doesn't get the best seats.

Nope. It's not style. If it somehow reinforced or amplified the content, perhaps. However, this occurs on nearly every video, regardless of the content. It's just the easiest way to assemble the video from fragments without reshooting. There's good and then there's not-so-good; you can't get away with calling not-so-good "style" unless everyone else approves and starts copying you (and I don't think that's gonna happen).
