Thank you for ... ( 1 year ago by embenadorfinearts)
Thank you for posting this beautiful video! It shows what kind musical fidelity towards the composer has written. The video demonstrates the kind of impulse Bruno Walter was giving to the orchestra and the magical energy, especially interesting because he would be less expensive or more sober during a public concert. Finally it gives a glimpse into his profound human interpretation.

What spirit! Walter's recordings are among my favorites. They have more life and are more faithful to the score than many modern, eccentric interpretations. He died in 19, too soon! Get his recordings.

Walter and Brahms were a marriage made in heaven; thank you for posting this amazing video. Any orchestra he conducted took on a unique sound, as with all great conductors.

I love Walter's Brahms! I prefer Szell for Beethoven though, his Beethoven is almost too Brahms-like LOL. Beethoven needs to be "crisp."

No histrionics, Bruno Walter rehearses with a smile on his face. When I was young, I always wanted to write a note to the great man that would say simply, "Thank you for your Mozart." I never sent the note, and it probably would have meant little coming from a wet behind the ears college freshman. I treasure his recordings. I should have sent the note.

My favorite Brahms symphony, in the hands of his greatest disciple and re-creator. Nobody else captures Brahms quite this way, and Dr. Walter is making a less than first rate orchestra play their hearts out here.
