| This is in Portland, OR on January 16th, 2007. This is the neighborhood just south of Burnside & 23rd Ave which is very steep with narrow streets (much steeper than it looks from the balcony). There was probably close to an inch of ice covered with very dry snow. Maybe once every couple years Portland gets weather like this, so people aren't used to it. Plus, it tends to come out of nowhere and get bad very quickly. Most people stay home and wait it out. Some don't as you can see here. |
