i saw an interview of josh and he said he has a really hard time listening to himself because he is constantly unsatisfied with what he hears. i mean to me as a saxophonist i love his ideas and he always sounds great, but he has trouble finding the good in his playing.

He looked more pissed about the mic, but how amazing it to keep the composure and not lose a beat in time or phrasing as your microphone is falling off. Pretty impressive.

call me old school but where i come from the soloist pretty much calls the shots. sure you play off eachother, but if the soloist is taking you in a different direction, you go with him.

I've seen Pat Metheny (w/ Christian McBride) and Joshua Redman both live and I must say that they are towards the top of a very select group of jazz elites. Brian Blade is also up there, but I've never had the opportunity to see him thought. Huge fan of all these guys.

I remember seeing Pat Metheny with Christian McBride and Antonio Sanchez a few years ago in Florida and they are by far some of the best musicians out there right now. Unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of seeing Joshua Redman or Brian Blade, but they are just as impressionable.
