Beautiful song, thanks Mark! I agree that the video doesn't match the emotions evoked by the music, but just saying it's a bad vid shows a pathetic lack of thought. If i had directed it, i would have used more representational symbolism rather than such an obvious minimalism. But it was the 80's after all. Besides Dire Straits had one of the best videos ever with Money for Nothing. You can't hit a home run every time you get up to bat.

this is such an amazing song...i love the lyrics. i like the killers version a lot better though, i think just because i like brandon's voice better. if you haven't heard that version, you should really check it out. but anyways, great song!!

Just listened to The Killers version, didn't like it that much...many people feel Indigo Girls cover was better - I guess this is just a song that the first time you hear it - that version is the best. Btw, does anybody else feel that this song and Brothers in Arms were killed by crappy videos? BIA could be one of the best ballads ever, but the video brings it down to the point of utter dullness, b and w cartoons? no emotion, sad for the wrong reasons
