the great thing about the original 60s-era hippies was 1) it was a first, i.e. hadn`t been done before; therefore inspired 2) there was emphasis on looking good, cool, beautiful, etc. 3) it really meant something now, when I look at this guy, clearly none of the above points apply...jeez, at least the singing is better than the sound source looks.

no, your just narrow minded. Britain has got easily the best talent for Drum and Bass. Though even in that area we are closely followed by America. But, if you think about, Texas alone is something stupid like 11 times the size of Britain. By rights there should be a lot more good music coming out of America than there is. Relative to size, America produces fuck all good music.

Size of a country has nothing to do with the amount of quality music it should produce. There are hundreds of amazing American bands that made it nowhere. Bands that are much better than anything coming from the UK at the moment. What people have to realize is that if a good band is marketed well enough, it will sell. Music critics and the recording industry define what kind of music people listen to. Critics prefer Britain, because of it's musical history, and RIAA prefer marketable Americans.

Fair play, I should have gone for the population size instead of land mass but meh, point still stands. The more people there are, the more likely that there'll be a greater number of talented musicians. And I still disagree. The people on this page debating the uk - america thing are forgetting the electronic music industry. I think we have far more talented Drum and Bass, Hardcore and House producers than America.

Great music is entirely subjective. Just because you like more bands from the States than you do bands from the UK doesn't mean the Brits have nothing to offer. If you were into dubstep, you'd be saying the exact opposite as America has produced exactly 0 good dubstep producers.
