ück, stimmt. Doch jedes Stück kann man individualisieren und das hat Aretha genial gemacht. Sie hat es auf ihre Weise gesungen und das brilliant. Wer sagt, dass sie das auf "Opern-Art" singen wollte? Und ja, ich kenne Pavarottis "Nessund Dorma" und ich weiß, dass an ihn niemand rankommen wird.
Doch hat Aretha Franklin dieses Stück hier toll gesungen und ich kann eure Kommentare beim besten Willen nicht verstehen. Mfg

Pavarotti was suppose to sing that night but got very sick... So she filled in for him. i think she did a wonderful job for someone who dosent sing opera, DIVA!!!

I don't get Paul Potts, his voice is quite mediocre, even when compared to the most amateur opera singers. I actually hear some of his fans comparing him to Pav, it's just ridiculous! Paul Potts is awesome simply because of the unlikelyhood that he would actually be good. His story is still very inspiring though.

The music is the most important. THe singer merely the conduit. More people were exposed to this music than one could imagine. People in Italy pay for standing room and love this music. Everyone has a right to hear it in a way they can appreciate it. Kindness and humility should not be lost on those who comment here. The greatness demonstrated by this woman may not be understood. But Pavarotti asked for her; she knew the piece; and performed it LIVE with 8 minutes notice. Not you. Amen

epaps- Haha excellent work. Seriously, why would she do this? She is (was) a fantastic R&B singer. Sing one of the hundreds of songs you can sing well! I also love how every phrase ends with the made-up Italian word "Tah-Te"

Pavarotti was taken ill about 20 minutes before she performed this. She'd previously performed the work a few nights earlier, albeit in her own register. Pavarotti asked her, his friend, to stand in for him and she agreed. She still IS an amazing gospel and soul singer by the way.

As for her STILL being an amazing singer.... I think that's up for serious debate. Trust me, I am an Aretha FAN, but if you've heard her recently you know her voice is totally shot. I still listen to my old recordings of her and they sound great but now it's almost sad to listen to her. I also think that it doesn't help that she is the size of a house and getting bigger. That has to put serious strain on her body and voice.
