pure Socialism doesnt have purpose by itself. it's meant as measure to curb corruption, wild greed of Capitalism while increasing growth rates + expansion of market, encouraging fast profit growth.

Reading Klein's book is like having the curtain pulled back: suddenly you see why all of recent history has been unfolding the way it has, often with disastrous results. "Shock Doctrine" is a MUST-read for anyone who hopes to understand the world today.

What most people don't understand is that privately funded think tanks have been engaging in social engineering projects having GLOBAL consequences. Shock Blackwater is a CLASSIC example of their work. A corporation is treated as a PERSON under the law. A PERSON that cannot die, that you cannot put in jail, and for whom social responsibility is nothing more that the cost of doing business.

Amen, YentaY0! (Supreme court case- Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad Company) I think that we will see this rise in Corporatism and how it really does not serve oue interests. Maybe we could even say, "That is what fundamentalists mean when they talk about 'The Great Satan'". A system rules by the greed of wicked men, a faceless menace that liquifies the wealth of weaker nations and casts them to their new crippled, much more indebted, fate.

Well, what argument do you have to offer to back your position up? At least she took the time to do research. And if you read the book she makes logical conclusions and actually lists her sources. What is the central engine to all large societies? The economy, in whatever form it takes. If you don't believe that, think about how gas prices have reduced travel, shopping, and most other things realted to money...

You must believe in the "new legitimiacy", which is "because I did the research I am right and have legitimacy". This is what Micheal Moore (probably a coffee club memebr friend of Klein's)does and fools believe his nonsense. The protest was about China's horrible attitude about allowing free speech (other political parties, dissent, and other rights)more than anything else. You can have a million dollars (or a billion) and still be a slave to one party rule.

I found this book quite horrific and disturbing. She is throughout the book assigning opinions to Friedman which isn't true. Further she twists facts and historical events to suit her worldview.
For example she says the 1989 tianaman square demonstrations were AGAINST free markets. Whereas it was for more rights, free spech and democracy. A terrible lie and a perfect example of how she twists things to suit her quite bad ideas.
