that solves your own question, the man in the back IS walking backwards and note one thing for Adam it would have been easier if he kicked the rubiks cube backwards toward himself rather than forward since his other foot will anchor the cube in place.

I had watched the real person who performed this rubiks puzle cube, and he actually reversed the video and the background person was walking backwards.
they do it several times so it makes it perfect to look at.
