I think part of the problem is that people mix what they like with how they judge quality. There are films I've seen that are well made but I didn't like or consider favorites but I acknowledge their quality. I wish others could so the same.
I am a film major and when I saw this film, i was like... man wtf! My professor said that many people say it's the greatest film ever. I thought otherwise. People just say it's brilliant and say they like it because others say it.
I prefer seeing neorealist films, like A bycicle thief than this. Or the films influenced by film noir with marlon brando. "On the Waterfront" That was better than Citizen's kANE, in [my] opinion. But everyone has their own taste in movies. This movie did not give me any motivation to learn more
about Orsen Welles. I'm just gonna keep the knowledge i have. He was in the movie Citizen Kane, that's it . lol
Yes, it's not an easy film to stomach. However, I think one could get over that with a second or third viewing. It's a gritty film because it's a gritty story. But still, it's not for every taste.
ANY GUYS UP? S6
